Tips for Organization and Productivity

There are many factors that contribute to productivity—there’s environment, motivation level, and even your mood. All those things greatly affect how much effort you can put into your work. But these are all external locus of control; a phenomenon wherein you are led to believe that things outside of your control affect your output.

On the other hand, there’s the internal locus of control where you can hack your mind into believing that you have control over the outcome of your work.

So, how can you do this? How can you tell your brain to be more productive?

Even Small Steps Can Make a Path

It’s simple. Make small achievements that eventually would motivate you to aim for bigger goals.

Start by cleaning your surroundings. Simply put—BE MORE ORGANIZED!

If your workplace is clean, and all your stuff is organized well, then wouldn’t it drive you to get some work done?

Leave your counterproductive environment, and travel to a place that would make you feel more comfortable doing a lot of things at the same time.

Set Goals and Track Progress

Milestones are more fulfilling when you had hoped to achieve them beforehand. Keep a pen and paper ready at your side, or download a checklist app on your phone. Before sitting down at your desk, visualize and take note of every task you should be able to complete by the end of the day. Even small things like sweeping the floor, or walking the dog are productive things you can do. Write anything down. The longer the list the better. This just means you can achieve more in a day!

Invest In Organizing Tools

Especially if you’re the type of person to multitask, having tools and equipment that help in organizing your things can make a big difference in achieving a productive day. Those $5 desk organizers on Amazon, phone cases with cardholders, and bags with multiple pockets—all those things are modern innovations meant to help you be more organized and productive at the same time. Use human advancement to your advantage!
