Which Luggage Is Best Suited for You?

October 24, 2026

Travel is a joy, but choosing the right luggage can be confusing. Here are five things to consider before you buy.

Size

Your suitcase should be just right: not too big, not too small and not too heavy. Think about the trips you take most often. A 20 inch carry-on suits short trips and cabin-only travel; a 24 inch suitcase fits a week; 28 inches and up is for long trips or packing for two. Make a list of what you usually bring, then choose the size.

Wheels and handles

Four spinner wheels roll smoothly in any direction and make airports easy. A sturdy telescopic handle that locks at different heights, plus top and side carry handles, makes lifting the suitcase onto a belt or into a car easier. Darker colors also show dirt less.

Security

Choose luggage that can be locked, ideally with a TSA-accepted lock, which airport security can open without breaking it. A locked bag is a less tempting target and gives you peace of mind.

Durability

Hard-shell suitcases in materials such as polycarbonate or polypropylene protect fragile items and shrug off rain. Soft-shell luggage in dense fabric is lighter, flexes into tight spaces and often has handy outer pockets. Both can last for years when they are well made: look at the zippers, wheels and handle as closely as the shell.

Value

A cheap suitcase is not a bargain if you replace it after a few trips, and an expensive one is not automatically better. Compare the details, read reviews and look for a fair warranty. Our luggage comes with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects.
