A good sleeve lets you put your laptop in any bag, even one without a laptop compartment.

How do I know which sleeve size fits my laptop?
Measure the screen diagonal in inches (or check your laptop model) and choose a sleeve in exactly that size. A laptop that floats in a sleeve that's too big takes knocks just as if it had no sleeve.
Is a sleeve enough, or do I need a full laptop bag?
A sleeve protects against scratches and light knocks and suits carrying inside another bag. If you commute daily with your laptop, a dedicated bag with a suspended padded compartment is better, and the sleeve stays on for double protection.
