October 23, 2026

Changing a TSA code
- Enter the current code (default: 000)
- Press the reset button with a pin
- Choose a new code
- Release the button
- Check that it works
A regular combination lock
Open it with the code, look for a reset lever on the side, press it, choose a new code and release.
Tips for choosing a code
Avoid 1234 or your date of birth. Choose a code that is easy to remember but hard to guess. Write it down somewhere safe in case you forget. Camel Mountain suitcases come with a built-in TSA lock.
Frequently asked questions
What is the default code of a new suitcase?
Most suitcases come set to 000 or 0000. Change it right away.
What do you do if the code won't change or the lock is stuck?
If you followed the steps and the lock still won't open or refuses to change, one of the dials may not have settled exactly on the right number, or the mechanism may be damaged. In that case, contact the Camel Mountain service lab to avoid irreversible damage to the suitcase from trying to force it yourself.
Can you reset the code while the suitcase is locked and you don't remember the old code?
No. For security reasons, you can't press the reset button or move the reset lever while the suitcase is locked. You will need to find the current code by trial and error (000 to 999) or contact our service lab.
What is a TSA lock and why does it matter?
A TSA (Transportation Security Administration) lock is a special lock that lets airport security staff (especially in the United States and Europe) open the suitcase for inspection with a dedicated master key without breaking the lock or destroying the zippers. The key is held only by the security authorities, and the traveler uses only the code.
