Airlines: Baggage Policies and Smart Flight Choices for Travelers

Baggage policies

Low-cost airlines charge for every suitcase. Premium airlines include a checked bag. Think about the total cost of baggage: sometimes a more expensive ticket with a suitcase included works out cheaper.

How to save

• Pack in a carry-on: a cabin suitcase is enough for a weekend
• Book your suitcase in advance: it's cheaper than at the airport
• Frequent flyer status: sometimes a free suitcase
• Weigh in advance with a portable scale
