From the Factory to Your Door: How We Choose Materials and Test Quality
October 23, 2026

At Camel Mountain we ensure uncompromising quality by directly supervising our supply chain, working with top factories in Asia that manufacture for leading global brands, and carefully choosing materials, including durable polypropylene shells, abrasion-resistant fabrics and reinforced seams. Our transparency and strict testing are the reason we give up to 10 years of warranty on our products.
Half a century of tradition: where does it all begin?
The Camel Mountain brand was founded in 2006, growing out of a family business that has been traveling with you for more than 50 years, since 1975. Over half a century of activity, we have helped millions of travelers, tech professionals, students and companies choose their carrying and travel solutions.
Our accumulated experience has taught us that a bag or a suitcase is not just another fashion accessory: it is your partner on the road, whether on a short business trip, a busy day at university or a long backpacking journey. The slogan that guides us, Keep On Moving, is not just a marketing line but a way of life that commits us to making and importing products that let you keep moving forward, worry-free and with as few problems as possible.
Our supply chain: why top factories in Asia?
One of the most common questions we are asked is how a brand like ours manages to keep competitive prices alongside quality that rivals the world's top brands. The answer lies in our direct supply chain. We work directly, without middlemen, with the leading manufacturing plants in Asia, the very same factories that make the product lines for the best-known and most prestigious global brands in travel and fashion.
Working with these factories gives us access to the most advanced manufacturing technologies, computerized industrial sewing machines and incredibly precise molds. In addition, our two-track model includes products made under our own brand, Camel Mountain, alongside a careful selection of imported international brands. Why do we do this? Because we believe in variety and in answering every need. Whether it is a backpack of our own design or an international brand we import, every single item passes the same strict quality filter and meets the uncompromising standards we set.
Materials engineering: what really holds your bag or suitcase together?
When we design or choose a new model, we don't look only at the outside. The heart of every bag and suitcase lies in the materials it is made of. We require our factories to use the most durable materials on the market:
- Polypropylene (PP) shells for hard-shell suitcases: polypropylene is the best raw material for suitcases today. It combines low weight with exceptional flexibility, which keeps the suitcase from breaking or cracking even when it is thrown around by rough baggage handling at airports.
- Abrasion-resistant fabrics: our backpacks and laptop bags are made of especially dense fabrics, such as quality canvas, ballistic nylon and water-repellent fabrics. These fabrics resist tearing, daily wear and moisture.
- Reinforced seams: every stress point in our bags, such as the shoulder strap joints, the carry handles and the bottom of the bag, gets double and triple stitching to make sure the bag won't let you down even when it is packed to the brim.
- Zippers and moving parts: we use thick zipper tracks and highly wear-resistant mechanisms, together with quiet 360 degree wheels and telescopic handles made of light, strong aluminum.
| Material or component | Main use | Our quality test | Warranty period |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polypropylene (PP) | Hard-shell suitcase shells | Drop test from a height and high-pressure crush test | 10 years on the shell |
| Abrasion-resistant fabrics (canvas, nylon) | Backpacks, laptop and travel bags | Rubbing, stretching and moisture exposure tests | 12 months |
| Zippers and tracks | Closing main and secondary compartments | Repeated opening and closing test (thousands of cycles) | 12 months |
| Wheels and telescopic handles | Moving suitcases and travel bags | Rolling under load on rough surfaces | 12 months |
Our testing protocol: how do we simulate a suitcase's "whole life"?
Our quality control starts on the production floor and continues until the product reaches our warehouses. Our partner factories run advanced testing labs where every new model goes through an especially tough series of torture tests:
Drop tests: fully loaded suitcases are dropped again and again from different heights and angles to test the durability of the shell and wheels. Drag tests: the wheels are tested by rolling continuously for tens of kilometers on rough conveyors that simulate sidewalks, asphalt and stairs. Zipper and handle tests: automatic machines open and close the zippers thousands of times in a row, and lift the bags and suitcases by the carry handle and the telescopic handle under heavy load to make sure there is no point of failure.
Thanks to these tests, we can confidently give a long-term warranty: 12 months on bags and backpacks, a full 10 year warranty on the shell of our polypropylene hard-shell suitcases, and 12 months on wheels, handles, telescopic mechanisms and zippers. We know exactly what goes into every product, so we stand behind it proudly.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between polypropylene and other materials in hard-shell suitcases?
Polypropylene (PP) is an especially strong and flexible polymer. Unlike cheaper materials that tend to break or crack under pressure in the hold, polypropylene is elastic enough to absorb hard knocks and return to its original shape. That is why we give a full 10 year warranty on the shell.
Does your warranty also cover wheels and handles?
Absolutely. We give a 12 month warranty on all the moving parts of our suitcases and bags, including wheels, carry handles, telescopic mechanisms and zippers. We believe travel gear should serve you without problems.
Why are some products on the site from other international brands?
Alongside making products under the Camel Mountain brand, we import leading international brands that meet exactly the same strict standards as ours. Every product that enters our site or store passes our strict quality screening to make sure you get the best.
