How to Add a Suitcase on Israir: Prices, Deadlines and Where It's Cheaper

October 23, 2026

You add a suitcase on Israir when booking on the website, or later in the My Israir personal area, up to 6 hours before departure. Within that window you pay the advance price: $65 per direction for a first suitcase up to 23 kg, compared with $100 at Ben Gurion Airport. A carry-on up to 10 kg costs $30 in advance and $40 at the airport. A small personal item stays free.

When and where can you add baggage on Israir?

According to Israir's baggage policy page, the advance prices apply to anyone who buys baggage when booking on the website, or in the personal area up to 6 hours before departure. After that, what's left is buying at the airport, which is the most expensive option.

  • When booking: the simple way. Select a suitcase on the extras screen, before payment.
  • After booking: go to the personal area (My Israir) on the Israir website and add baggage to the existing booking. You can also do it through the airline's telephone reservations center, during its opening hours.
  • At the airport: at Ben Gurion the price is higher, and at airports abroad prices are charged in euros or pounds and vary by destination.

Note: under Israir's terms, baggage you have bought can't be canceled, changed or upgraded, except where consumer protection law allows it. So decide what you need before you pay.

Step by step: adding a suitcase to an existing booking

  1. Have your booking number ready, and your last name as it appears on the ticket.
  2. Log in to the personal area on the Israir website and open the booking.
  3. Choose the baggage add-on, and select what each passenger needs for each direction separately: a carry-on up to 10 kg, a suitcase up to 23 kg, or extra weight.
  4. Check the total before paying. The price list is in dollars and per direction, so a round trip counts twice.
  5. Save the payment confirmation and make sure the baggage appears in the updated booking.

Can't do it on the website? Contact Israir's reservations center, preferably a few days before the flight rather than on the day itself, so you don't hit the 6 hour limit without a solution.

How much does it cost to add a suitcase on Israir?

These are the prices shown on Israir's baggage policy page for the airline's international flights, in dollars, per direction:

What you addIn advance (up to 6 hours before)At Ben Gurion Airport
Small personal item, up to 40×30×20 cmFreeFree
Carry-on or large backpack, up to 55×40×25 cm and 10 kg3040
First suitcase, up to 23 kg65100
Second suitcase, up to 23 kg80120
Third to fifth suitcase, each120150
Extra weight 24 to 30 kg (first suitcase only)2070

The carry-on dimensions include wheels, handles and side pockets, and the large suitcase is limited to 65×45×30 cm. Flights to New York are different: in economy, a carry-on and one suitcase up to 23 kg are included in the ticket.

How much do you save by adding in advance?

The math is simple, and it usually settles it:

  • First suitcase: $65 instead of $100, a $35 saving on the outbound flight alone.
  • Carry-on: $30 instead of $40.
  • Excess weight: a 25 kg suitcase already on the booking costs an extra $20 in advance, and $70 if you only find out at the counter.

A couple flying round trip with one suitcase each pays $260 in advance (65 times two passengers times two directions). Whoever waits for the airport pays $200 for the outbound flight alone, plus an airport price abroad on the way back. If you're not sure whether you'll need a suitcase, it's better to decide before the 6 hour window closes.

What to choose: carry-on, suitcase, or both?

Before adding anything, work out what you really need. Israir's price list has three tiers:

  1. Only a small personal item (free): up to 40×30×20 cm, under the seat in front of you. Suits a weekend with a few clothes.
  2. A carry-on up to 10 kg ($30): suits a week of summer clothes. A 20 inch suitcase usually weighs 2.2 to 3 kg empty, so a light suitcase leaves more weight for the contents.
  3. A suitcase up to 23 kg ($65): worth it for a long vacation, winter, traveling with kids, or coming home with shopping.

Note: in the price list, a large backpack counts as a carry-on, in the same tier of up to 10 kg. Only a small bag that fits under the seat stays free, so a full travel backpack won't save you the fee. One more thing from Israir's terms: the number of carry-ons in the overhead bins is limited to about 50, and paying for a carry-on doesn't guarantee it goes into the cabin. When space runs out it goes in the hold and waits for you on the carousel at the destination.

Tip: two carry-ons together cost $60, and one shared suitcase up to 23 kg costs $65. Almost the same price, a lot more space, and free hands on the plane. And if you're unsure about size, our guide to suitcase size and weight on Arkia and Israir covers both airlines in more detail.

Flying to Eilat or booked a package holiday?

On Israir's domestic flights to Eilat, a carry-on up to 10 kg is free, and a first suitcase up to 23 kg can be paid for in advance up to 4 hours before departure.

With package holidays and tickets bought through an agent, baggage is sometimes already included and sometimes not. Check what your booking confirmation says about baggage, and if you need to add it, contact the agent or the company you bought from, early and not on the day of the flight.

How not to get a surprise at the counter

  • Weigh at home the day before: a 24 kg suitcase costs an extra $70 at Ben Gurion. No luggage scale? Here are 4 ways to weigh a suitcase at home.
  • Weigh the carry-on too: 10 kg goes fast, especially with a heavy suitcase. A light suitcase gives you more room for clothes within the same limit.
  • Check the booking after adding: that the suitcase is listed for the right passenger and in both directions, if needed.
  • Get to the counter on time: here's how early to check in your baggage.

And if you're over the limit anyway, our guide to excess weight fees explains what you can do at the counter. If you're looking for a suitcase that goes into the cabin with you, there are 20 inch carry-on suitcases.

Prices and dimensions according to Israir's baggage policy page, as checked in October 2026, for flights operated by Israir itself. Israir updates prices from time to time, so the final price is the one shown in your booking.
